A new indictment for potential coverage next week. University of Michigan students who thought it would be a great idea to be the next Weather Underground.

Thanks for the link. The indictment is quite a read. The defendants appear to be in Serious Trouble.

Some questions….

Eight of the ten counts are under “18 U.S.C. $$ 3 7 r; 87 5(c) (Conspiracy to Transmit Threats in Interstate and Foreign Commerce)”. The “Overt Acts” in each of these eight counts seem much worse than “conspiracy to transmit threats”. Why are the counts constructed around nebulous and generic conspiracy charges rather than directly targeting the criminal acts the defendants are accused of?

Regarding the “presumption of regularity”: Has DOJ sabotaged its credibility in all cases, or only in cases with conspicuous fingerprints of Trump political appointees? The U. S. Attorney here, Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr., was appointed by former Trump AG Pam Bondi, but was a career prosecutor for 15 years prior, so maybe not a total hack. The indictment is signed by five government attorneys; they can’t all be Trump toadies, can they?

Hey, folks. My sub ends next week. I won't be renewing as long as you're on Substack, because nazis get monetized here. I've given you over two years to move. Hit me up if you move to another platform.

I initially misread vouch as vooch (nickname for Celtics player) and conflated it as Mooch, as in Scarmucci. Made me nostalgic for a moment.

Here’s an interesting thought experiment- imagine if Lewis George becomes mayor, and ticks off Trump enough that a lame duck session of the Republican Congress revokes DC home rule. Then Trump implements the “red state agenda”, making DC the only place in the DMV where you can own an AR-15 and a bunch of 30 round magazines. Also the only place in the DMV with a bathroom bill, vouchers, mandatory released time, and an abortion ban of some kind.
